NJ Orthodontist, Dr. Homayoun Aminyar, is an impressive scholar and a distinguished practitioner of Orthodontics at Bogota Dentistry in Bergen County. Yet he knows that most of his patients dread their visits with him. Dr Aminyar specializes in the field of Orthodontics, treating children and adults for misalignments of the teeth and jaw which, if not corrected, can cause negative health consequences. Often times, orthodontic braces are needed to correct these problems, and that is where the love-hate relationship begins.
Orthodontic braces have been widely unpopular by those who must wear them. But Dr Aminyar insists the consequences of delaying or avoiding orthodontic treatment can have far greater consequences for those who stubbornly avoid it. The delay of Orthodontic treatment can often lead to unnecessary extraction of adult teeth and possibly extensive jaw surgery.
Bogota Dentistry in Bergen County offers major advancements in the field of Orthodontics which have led to greater options for dealing with the correction of misaligned teeth. Dr Aminyar of Bogota Dentistry is pleased to offer patients two convenient alternatives to traditional metal braces, Damon System Braces and Invisalign clear braces.
Conventional braces are tied together with elastics, which cause friction and pressure, making treatment slower and less comfortable. Damon braces use a slide mechanism to hold the wire, which allows teeth to move more freely, comfortable, and most importantly, quickly. Damon braces are designed to be discreet, comfortable and easy to keep clean. Without the elastic ties which attract and collect plaque, Damon braces make dental hygiene easy during treatment.
Invisalign clear braces are a virtually invisible way to straighten teeth without braces. The Invisalign system uses a series of “invisible” clear removable aligners (or dental trays) to move teeth over time. A major advantage of the Invisalign system is that the aligners can be easily removed for short periods of time to accommodate eating or any of life’s other moments when the user does not want their ‘braces’ in.
According to Dr Aminyar, “Correcting crooked teeth is about more than just having a beautiful smile. Our overall health, general wellbeing, and self-esteem are greatly affected by the health of our teeth, gums, and jaws. Although most children dread the thought of braces, I have never seen an incident where the patient wasn’t thrilled in the end and satisfied with their decision.”

For some Bergen County residents, damaged or missing teeth can be a shameful reminder of a bad accident or dental negligence gone horribly wrong. For years, many people hide behind their embarrassing smiles thinking they cannot afford a solution. Dr Sherzoy, director of Bogota Dentistry in Bergen County wants these people to know that easy financing is available at his dental practice, and he would like to help them restore their smile back to its original beauty.
Dr Sherzoy is well qualified in the field of Implant Dentistry, a specialized aspect of dentistry, dealing with the placement and restoration of dental implants. Dental Implants are Dr Sherzoy’s preferred method of tooth replacement versus dentures because they look and feel more natural, do not slip or slide out of place, and do not have to be removed to be cleaned. According to recent publishings from the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID), dental implants are the ideal option to replacing aging bridges and messy dentures.
Dr Sherzoy agrees. “Aged bridges can no longer preserve dental health. They are difficult to clean and require replacement with newer bridges. Instead of continuing the replacement cycle, I recommend to all my patients that they switch to implants. Implants can easily be cared for, do not decay and function just as well as natural teeth,” said Dr Sherzoy.
The best way to describe a dental implant is to compare it to a real tooth. A natural tooth consists of a root and a crown. The part you see and eat with is the crown. Beneath the crown is the root which anchors the tooth through the gum tissue and to the jaw bone. When you lose a tooth you lose both the root and the crown. You need a dental implant which is essentially a new root to replace both the root and the crown.
Another added benefit of the implant is that patients do not have to sacrifice healthy teeth as they do with bridgework. Dr Sherzoy says there is good news for patients in need of dental implants. “As patient demand continues to increase, the cost of dental implants is becoming much more reasonable. Although the initial cost of Implants is higher than dentures, implants are permanent and require little to no maintenance, dentures will have to be replaced due to changes in gum and bone density. At Bogota Dentistry, we also offer easy financing solutions, so getting back the smile that you always wanted is a reality for most people.”
